Hobart

Traveling south to Tasmania. Tasmania is Australia's biggest island. Being an island and not that far from Antarctica, it has a different climate than the mostly hot and dry continent of mainland Australia. It rains much more often, temperate rainforests are common in the western part (the other parts are more populated and mostly farmland) and temperatures can change drastically according to the wind direction (warm when blowing from the direction of the mainland and ice-cold when blowing from Antarctica).
I fly to Hobart which is Tasmania's capital. The place reminds me a bit of Tromso in Norway with its harbor and the  mountains in the background. One of the main attractions for me is however the Bob Barker ship of the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society. It is an international non-profit organization which is financed by donations of nature lovers only. It's aim is to protect wildlife from illegal killing. "Everybody watches it and feels sorry for it but that's not enough for us", tells one of the crew. "We do not only want to report about those crimes but actually do something, stop them!"
The organization is most known for its work in the whale sanctuaries of Antarctica preventing illegal whaling there by disturbing the huge whaling ships.
They have been in the harbour for some days now, have given a lecture on their work and give now some  guiding tours around the ship. They are preparing to leave for Antarctica again since the next whaling season is about to start ..
